A newbie's perspective
I want to preface this by saying first and foremost that this is only speculation - I wish in no way to claim that I definitely KNOW who was involved in this crime at all. I am not accusing ANY ONE PERSON of murder or attempting at disparaging their character. Now, with the legal disclaimer out of the way...
A particular person’s insistence that he feels "guilt" about something that happened back then.
His history of being molested.
He has said that his time in the Quincy / Keddie area was one of the two worst things that have ever happened to him.
His mild affliction that caused his social awkwardness that people that knew him - knew of him - have indicated - and that we've seen here. He is a very intelligent person, yet seems to revert to his "former self" whenever he's on this board. Why is that? He keeps wanting to "fit in" even today w/ the locals from that area.
The "tent people" living "by the tracks" he keeps referring to. The FTRA has "members" or "brothers" that congregate around the tracks, live transiently off others, and have several inner circles. Circles of pedophile activity, drug running, intimidation. Other unsavory activities. Many are vets from Vietnam. One of them actually confessed to this crime but recanted.
How easy would it be for an evil group of "bad seeds" to take a socially inept person that idolizes them and make him "prove" himself by being their patsy? I am not saying that they made him do this heinous crime. I am only saying that he may be privy to the information and since he is a bit slow, the people responsible may be able to "discount" his chatter as nonsense by character assassination. Clearly since he has left the Keddie/Quincy area he has continued his education and tried to better himself but is definitely haunted by what he knows and / or may have unwittingly or unwillingly participated in.
Are any of law enforcement in that area from that time related to any of the players in this case?
If so, and they still live in the area, doesn’t it make sense that they might come on here very often and try to "discount" this individual’s ramblings as insignificant so others won't listen to him? It has been working. And this case is still open and unsolved. People need to look at this case differently.
Also, if you or your loved ones were victims of molestation and maybe an adult in your family was told - back then - what do you think would have happened? It was and sometimes still is - swept under the carpet and not talked about because sometimes the victims feel shame and their adult protectors sometimes feel guilty and bad because they feel that they may have unknowingly allowed the activity to happen.
This case has many layers and possible motives, possible multiple motives as well. It may be that more than one of the victims were being molested and the survivors don’t want it public, and that some of the members of the "tent people" FTRA-cult-whatever it was got wind of the "treasure" of a defenseless single mom with many kids (opportunity for a pedophile) and decided in their drunken or drug stupor that they'd go mess with the females in the house. Maybe someone that was associated with the tent people learned about the situation of the females being in the house by a person like the individual I’m referring to. And maybe he really believes that he gave the perps the info, hence the "guilt" and his intense NEED to keep returning here, revisiting the murders.
Many of you have discounted what he has to say because of his method of relaying it to you and his juvenile bickering. But if people would prod a little further and possibly get beyond that and "hear" what he is so desperately trying to "show you" albeit in a convoluted way. If you take a step back, I think that you may see that he might have knowledge that is key to this case. Look at the full message, not the messenger. You know, actually it is rather interesting that he seems to be inviting someone to put the pieces together. He wants this off his chest and feels guilt.
For the family and friends of the victims of this horrible crime I give you my most sincere condolences. I cannot imagine the feelings you must have gone through and continue to go through. I am sorry if my rambling assessments or judgments are upsetting to you at all. I'm just giving a stranger's fresh point of view to this old crime. I want the people responsible for this murder to be out of circulation so that the people that remain are no longer afraid. So that this poor family did not die in vain.

Another perspective would be that it has never been solved because it never happened.

I can see that perspective as being the same as the murderer's. I can see how they would want to believe that it never happened. I'm sure they have had to continue living as if it never happened, otherwise how would they live with themselves?

Guest, I don't find your comment funny, as I am sure the murderer DOES come on this forum quite often actually as "Guest" (and I use this term loosly.) IMO, the murderer(s) come on here as Guest because of their need to revisit the crime.

Just one question - what proof do you have that this crime was actually committed?

What media coverage? What photographic evidence? What legal documents? My challenge is this: Post a link to a legitimate news source that covered this story. Post a legible news article on this site (you have to admit the ones posted on the web page are just a little unreadable). Post a link to anything about this crime that pre-dates 2005. And last but not least, there are apparently numerous people on this site who have copies of this illusive documentary. I challenge any of them to post even ten seconds of it. That's all I ask. If you have a copy, prove it exists. Some me something that proves this happened.

Ok... this is a little bit ridiculous. If this murder never happened why would anyone pretend that it did for the past 3 years? Is this really what this country does? This is really a shame! Poking fun, if you are, at matters such as murder? I wonder what kind of people America breeds.

I just posted this under a different thread. But I've gone to the Quincy library on the 25th anniversary of this crime. I've read all the microfiched newspaper articles about these murders. I've also met Marilyn and Richard's mother and Craig.

I've also read an extensive article in the (S.F. chronicle, I believe) about this very case and the Keddie resort.

It did happen. So you can stop wasting our time with this subject.

Of course, but this has been a message board and people have been writing for the past 3 years about this on here. The Blair Witch Project was a movie. People didnt continue to discuss where who how and why of it for 3 years. I just cannot understand for the life of me why so many people would write about this and write for a joke. Who on earth makes jokes about murder? Only in America!!!!!!

Wow.
Let me just say this.
I have read some things others have posted which clearly showed that they were paranoid. I thought they were mental, that is until...
Now, I, too join this list, unfortunately. LOL, I can't believe it!
I was just "nuked" (something someone that knows a person's IP address does) like 3 times.
Which leads to this:
Who could possibly know my IP addy and Why are they trying so hard to shut me up? LOL, have I stumbled on something which may have some relevance?
I was only speculating, as I've always said.
Nonetheless...
Why doesn't the person(s) responsible for this get a real job doing what they're obviously good at - ! Cyber terrorism.. lol. I'm not afraid, by the way.
"Guest" and I still use the term loosely - I have no desire to partake in your little game - everyone here knows that a terrible crime has happened, now, recently someone directly responsible for this site has posted numerous links to the movie The Strangers and are luring curious viewers to this site to "play" with. Sick

J:
Mildly computer savvy (or ppl that know how to perform a search for the info) Juvenile people can obtain an individual's IP address and "nuke" them - that is to "shoot" or "flood" their ports and registries until their system freezes. For whatever purpose. I don't think that I'm very important, as I've only recently stumbled to this site like so many other unsuspecting people - but why do "they" want to "punish" me w/ a nuke?
It's just silly.

I ask for a single link, a single post, anything. All I get in return is "Um, I think there may have been an article in the Chronicle." You make a trek all the way to Keddie to see the site and read the microfiche files, but you can't remember the name of the newspaper where you read the article?
What caught your interest on the 25th anniversary? Were you following this before then? Who are you?

Since it appears that we have to do the work for you - why don't YOU check this article out the next time that you are at your local Library?

Onemouse, just keep it up, if you can. You have an excellent overview of the case. A few clarifications:

LE: No, I know of no connection between people around the Sharps and badges at that time or today.

The tent people: I brought this up years ago and it was suggested that they were asked to leave the resort a month or two before this happened.

The FTRA: It was not yet organized, but that is not to say that no one who later became a member could have had anything to do with this.

Sidetrack: His confession was kinda wierd. In fact, all of his confessions and recantations are off the wall. It has been said recently by someone who should know, that he knows who did this. But they also say he didn't do it.

Molestation: All over the map on this one. Some say yes, some don't think so. Would you consider just "kiddie porn?"

Craig: I will leave that to others. I've spent many hours talking to him and I have no real opinion, except that he was there and knows a hell of a lot. Does he remember it all? I don't know.

"Games People Play." Your perception is correct. Why? Who knows? Maybe desparation???

Valley:
Yes, precisely what I was thinking about. "Kiddie Porn" I think there were other victims that may or may not remember these sort of events, and perhaps that their very own father or uncle or brother or even husband were involved in this activity.

A woman that doesn't have very many options (i.e. poor, not really educated) might look the other way if she discovered her hubby, or other dominant male, (breadwinner) were involved in this sort of activity. She may even trick her own mind into not believing it happened in the first place (the child telling her what may have happened in the basement, etc)

Again, speculating. Did anyone see the movie w/ Ashton Kutcher.. I think it was The Butterfly effect? Not sure about the title...

Thanks for the encouragement Valley. People, don't be intimidated Smile

Guest, since you're asking the question about interest in the 25th anniversary, I suspect you're directing those questions to me.

I didn't know I'd have to give you yet even more specifics, i.e. names of newspapers to further my argument that this case really happened...

I believe the microfiched articles I read were from the Plumas County News or Times or something like that. And I don't remember exactly which "Chronicle" paper I read online about this case. But I believe it was the San Francisco Chronicle.

My interest in this case was sparked many years ago after watching a local network news clip at the end of their evening broadcast about this case. They baited me with a statement like, "see the resort that died after an unsolved quadruple homicide," or something like that. Again, this was many years ago, at least 4 when they broadcast this news segment. I think it was a Sacramento news channel, perhaps KOVR 13. I had to sit through the the entire hour long news broadcast. They had a little clip at the end about this case and the little resort, Keddie. They even showed the cabin. Since then I've done lots of internet research. I've actually found more information than you have apparently.

P.S. I don't use the word, "um"

I was just on the Plumas County newspaper website. The Remember When column posted on June 6, 2007 said the authorities ruled out that the skull found was Tina Sharp's. I'm confused. And then there is the article about Tina's memorial. It mentions an adopted brother. Who was that? Was that the third serving boy?

That was a different skull they were talking about in the Remember When column, one that was found in 1982. Tina's skull wasn't found until 1984. I am curious about the earlier skull found though.

Here's what the article said:

25 Years Ago.......1982
The remains of a human skull were found by a miner in southern Plumas County along Nelson Creek near where it crosses the Sloat-Gibsonville Road. However, authorities ruled out that the skull was that of Tina Sharp, 12, missing since April 1981 during the Keddie murders incident.

Anyone know if it was identified and what the circumstances were for it being found where it was found? Was it a young girl's skull? Could this be related?

Not Sure

Bluey, it might have been Channel 3. The news footage at the start of the video is from them. That was the recently deceased Mike Boyd on camera.

I've read both the April and June, 1984 articles from the Bee. The June article was pretty clear that it was Tina's skull. The video is likewise.

Valley, you're right! It is shown in the beginning of Josh's film. And it was indeed Mike Boyd. So it must have been channel 3 reports. Thanks.

I have read every single post from the old message board. I have read all the pertinent postings on this site (meaning I skipped the back and forth arguing and sniping at each other - seemed rather counterproductive and a waste of everyone's time). I have read every article on line I could find. Not being privvy to the documentary or other information that other people on this board have, here are my conclusions:
1.The crime was committed by more than one person. There is no way one person could have bound and tortured two teenage boys and their mother without someone fighting back.
2. There was obviously immense rage and passion involved which makes it a personal crime (which has been stated time and time again on both boards)
3. At least two people on this board were reponsible for the crime, which is why they are here so often, posting, playing cat and mouse games, taunting those around them. It is a way to constantly relive the crimes.
4. The two people who claim to know the most but also hide the most, only throwing out little tidbits here and there to keep people interested, involved in the site are Valley Flyer and Craig. They also seem to have this very intersting love/hate relationship even dating back to the other site. Almost a Of Mice and Men type of thing. One dominant, one submissive... Onemouse was too cautious or kind to come right out and say it, so I will. I believe Craig and Valley Flyer were responsible for this
