James V 'Jimmy' Rini Timeline

Postby dmac » Sat Oct 22, 2011 2:24 am

This timeline will, like Marty's and Boubede's, grow as new evidence is brought forth. This top post is the timeline itself and will be edited as additions / edits are processed. Please post your information and additons on this thread. Once posts have been worked through and melded with the timeline, they will be deleted to make room for new additons.

Jim Rini was a complex, violent, murderous asshole who pulled hundreds of armed robberies and heists with many folks like Bo, Alvin, and Dolores Boubede. At the same time, he was a major mafia enforcer who couldn't stay out of the newspaper for more than a few weeks at a time. Given his antics, one could easily assume he loved being in the rags and, as his short jail terms indicate, had reason not to be concerned with his outrageous public personna as one of Chicago's Worst.

Initially, due to their intertwined backgrounds, I was going to lump Rini's and Uncle Alvin's timelines together with Bo's, but Rini's actions- and notoriety in the press (for years, he was the Tribune's poster boy for mafia dickheads- they investigated him more than once, leading to trials and prison terms)- make his entries particularly convoluted and complex. Hell, he was running with Alvin and Bo (who knows, maybe even Bo's dad before he died) at the same time he was a mafia enforcer deeply involved with the slots racket. Acid and hammer attacks, murder, whatever it took to get retailers to comply to mafia demands. Whatever it took to rob a bank. And don't forget this little moron turdwagon got Bobby Kennedy to give him a prison vacation under the guise of looking for Molly Zelko's body. Rini put a shovel in Kennedy's hand, ffs.

Unlike other timelines, the majority of information here will be taken from newspaper article extracts. The date will be listed first, then the name of the publication, then article titles and subtitles, and finally whatever text is available from the online extract. These extracts are from costly pay-per-view articles. Some of the earliest articles (1900-1925) deal with Rinis who may or may not be related to Jim. It's important to note that James V Rini is occasionally listed as Joseph Rini. Although I'm not positive, there are indications his middle name was Victor.

240509 Joseph Bocchio, Andrea Lamantia (chicago), Joseph Giglio and Roy Leona (Brooklyn), Natale Deamore & Joseph Rini (New Orleans) executed in Amite LA for muder of Dallas Calmes Cumberland Evening Times) Rini was 24, a citizen of America. The rest from Italy. Rini protested innocence of 5, saying only Deamore was guilty. Murder of restarateur Dallas Calmes occured at midnight, May 8, 1921, when he investigated a noise at the rear of his house. The gang was attempting to rob a Savings and Loan in Independence. Two others were found murdered in a car at a supposed hideout, and another man was arrested and charged with their murders, the alleged motive being to silence them in order for the other six to get away.

"In May, 1921, Joseph Rini and five other men of Italian descent drove from New Orleans to Independence, Louisiana, in a stolen car to attempt the late-night robbery of an Independence bank. During the confused events of that night, a local businessman was shot by an unknown assailant, and the six men were shortly thereafter captured and charged with murder, largely on the basis of circumstantial evidence. They were found guilty. When this verdict was appealed and the state supreme court reversed it on a technicality, a second trial in May, 1922, ended with an identical decision and sentence. A series of fruitless appeals followed, and on May 9, 1924, the prisoners were hanged in Amite City—the nation’s only execution of six men for the murder of one."

He boasts, in the past 10 months, his "North Side terror squad" committed 1500 robberies, 1000 burglaries, and 200 car thefts, with takes of at least $100,000. He was quoted, "Sometimes we did 20 jobs a night. We'd steal a car, do a couple of jobs, and get rid of the car. I was the leader, the called me The Green Hornet." The other members of his gang he credited as Wisconsin prisoner, Edward O'Connor, and Robert Angelo, 21 [ed: he is said to be 23 in other reports]. 511017 Chicago Daily Tribune- William Wertman (903 Fair Oaks, Oak Pk), 63, and his wife, upon returning home, surprised Rini (1456 N Orleans St) and Tom Allen (1320 N Clark) burglarizing their home. Wertman shot Allen multiple times, but Rini disarmed him by smashing his head with a glass vase. Allen was caught two blocks away at East Ave and Berkshire, 30 min. later. 4 hrs after the burglary, police staking out a suspicious car caught Rini trying to retrieve it. Rini said he ran to a nearby church after Allen, his cellmate at Stateville, collapsed. After praying with parishioners, he removed blood from his clothing in the bathroom, then took a train home, returning three hours later for the stolen car.

Oak Pk Oak Leaves- they tell the same story, but say Allen is Robert Allen, 48, of 1456 N Orleans (making him Rini's roommate). The article says Rini is 33 and with the same address. They also say the Wertmans got home at about 8pm to find the glass in his kitchen door smashed, so he suck in to go for his pistol. Apparently, Rini and Allen were coming downstairs and Wertman opened fire as Allen jumped over the railing at him. Rini came down the stairs and hit him with the vase. They caught Rini returning for the cat at 1010 North East Ave, just after 1 am.

On the 18th, the Trib ID'd Allen as Robert Allen, 45, claiming he had been critically wounded. Investigators had proved the Clark address was false.

511019 Chicago Daily Tribune- Allen admits he and Rini also burglarized four Evanston homes the same night as the Wertman home (1013 Oakton St., 1117 Asbury Ave., 401 Florence Ave., 1023 Ridge Ct.). Rini denied the Evanston burglaries. Allen said they would knock on the front door and get no answer, then break a window around the back. He said he disposed of $2000 worth of loot in bars.

511025 Burglary charges against Rini are continued until Nov 6, pending the recovery of Allen. Police say Rini has a criminal record nearly 2 pages long, whatever that's supposed to mean.

511106 Trial of Rini and Allen is continued again, until Nov 20. Police failed to bring Allen to court on the 6th.

511120 The trial gets a third continuance on the Grand Jury schedule, because both complained they had no legal counsel.

520402 Rini and Allen sentenced to 3-5 years for the Wertman burglary.

5604?? Rini associates, Frank Mustari, Robert E Furey, and Angelo Divito, are arrested with a list of 75-100 known prostitutes, suspected of organizing a racket to prey on the prostitutes. "undoubtedly, this was a syndicate operation".

5702?? Alex Ross (b.1911?) enters Holup's tavern, 9801 Ewing Av., saying they cannot have machines from different companies in the same tavern. He gives them a card from the CIAA (188 W Randolph, affil of IBEW #134), with Thomas Waterfall's name and number on it. Waterfall is, in fact, Chicago Outfit boss, Red Larner.

570400- multiple newpaper reports concerning later crimes by Ross and Rini claiming they were investigated in April 57 for "juke box" and "slots" theft, damage, etc. The consensus is the Grand Jury brought no indictments, and Rini/Ross and pals continured their reign of terror. These reports seem to predate the Chigago Trib story that nailed Rini and Ross as the dumbfucks who singlehandedly destroyed a bootlegging dynasty that made Capone look the pug-faced midget LOSER he was.

570427 Ross, Rini, Frank Mustari, and Frank Eldorado are arrested by Maywood police in a truck containing 3 pinball machines hijacked from Des Plaines businesses. At the station, Ross asks police to call the Crossroads Tavern at 159th & Cicero, Oak Forest, to notify "Red" of their arrest. Ross & Rini also implored them to contact William 'Willie Potatoes' Daddano to arrange bond.

570428 Chicago Daily Tribune- 4 ARE SEIZED AS HIJACKERS OF 3 PINBALLS - Recover Machines in Trailer- Four men were seized by Maywood police yesterday in possession of three pinball machines hijacked from two Des Plaines restaurants.

570508 Chicago Daily Tribune- VOTE TO INDICT 4 IN PINBALL MACHINE THEFT

570629 Willard O. Bates, 56, is approaching his car parked outside his Brookfield apartment when his Doberman alerts him. He sees someon laying in wait in the back of his car, and shoots him dead. Ross and Rini likely were also laying in wait across the street and fled. Dead is Frank Mustari, 29, aka Frank Aino, aka Thomas Leggs, whiskey and slot machine hijacker. Robert E Furey and Angelo Divito are also sought for questioning. Bates is also wounded in the gun battle.

Zanesville, OH paper claims Bates "shot it out with three men"

570900 (FALL) Paul Moloney, jukes distributor, testifies in front of the McClellan Committee:
"Mr. Moloney: In the fall of 1957. I was just about to get out of my car when a car pulled up behind me in the driveway and two men jumped out. One ran over, opening my door, and put a gun in my ribs and pushed my face down into the seat and made the statement that if I didn't get out of the distributing business I would be killed. With that they drove away. About a month later I received another phone call from them that if I loved my family, I better get out of the distributing business, or some harm would befall them, also. That was the last I heard from them.

Robert F Kennedy: Were you ever able to identify them ?

Mr. Moloney: I was able to identify one of the men, yes. His name was Rini."

570925 Amelia J "Molly" Zelko disappears from her Joliet home. Jim Rini later confesses to her murder, gets Bobby Kennedy to take him out of prison and into a remote farm field to dig holes looking for her body, and then retracts his confession.

"the FBI formally declined to investigate Zelko’s disappearance, and that they also told Joliet investigators that they did not have any information on the case at all. Although when the reporter John Whiteside applied for the “nonexistent” files through freedom of information acts, he received many files on Zelko’s disappearance, even citing J Edgar Hoover’s personal interest in the case..."

"Another twist in the case was in 1958 when Bobby Kennedy then the Chief Counsel of the U.S. Senate Rackets Committee travelled to Joliet in the company of his chief investigator Jim Mcshane and convict and Mafia employee James Rini (also known as the “Green Hornet”), who was convicted of breaking and damaging tavern/bar coin machines not owned by the Mafia) to search for Zelko’s remains after Rini wrote a letter to Bobby Kennedy saying he was involved in the murder of Zelko and on 9th Nov 1959 they travelled to an orchard on Mike Kozak’s farm on Renwick Road Joliet and spent the day digging holes in the search for Molly Zelko, yet came up empty. Kennedy mentioned this in his book “The Enemy Within.” Rini was taken to testify to the Rackett’s Committee regarding Zelko’s Murder, but pled the 5th amendment on each and every question, later saying it was all a hoax."

570928 FBI agents question Zelko's secretary, Charlotte French (27), concerning a packet of documents that Zelko usually kept locked in her desk, which seem to have disappeared at the same time.

571002 Edwardsville Intelligencer-- Joliet police want to get written statements from co-workers and associates of Molly Zelko, and co-publisher (and former county prosecutor), William R McCabe. McCabe's daughters, Jean Oliver (44) and Mary Lou Lowry, take over operation of the paper, and plan first to conduct a full audit on the books.

5710?? Two men enter tavern at 3700 Wallace St, 2 blocks from Mayor Daley's home. A bowling machine owned by independent HErman Klebba, 1115 W 31st, had just been installed. After beginning to play the machine, they drew revolvers and shot the machine roughly 11 times. Bartender Joseph Spagnola, 23, ducked behind the bar and was unable to ID photos of ROss and Rini, but said the two men were their sizes.

5711?? Ross tell owners of tavern at 2004 Chicago Av, Mary & William Smerch, they would have to remove all machines not bearing a CIAA label.

571101 Chicago Trib- Shortly after midnight, Willard O. Bates arrives home (4629 Pulaski Ave, Lyons http://goo.gl/maps/o0kwe) to pick up his wife, Joan, 38, to take her to their tavern/restaurant, Rio Vista (8107 Ogden Ave, Lyons http://goo.gl/maps/00rVC) to do the late shift. Upon entering his driveway and exiting his car, he is hit in a spray of rifle, carbine, and shotgun blasts. His wife and doberman, watching from the window, ran into the kitchen to hide from the spray. Mrs Bates hears a man say "Did you get him?" then heard a car drive off. Shortly prior, while watching from the window for Willard to arrive, she noticed a car drive slowly by. The Bates would have concluded the sale of the Rio Vista and moved away, in fear for their lives, but were stalled by a bout with the flu days prior.

Zanesville OH paper (UPI/API?) lists Bates as a former hijacker (probably booze, not slots) It also says Ross had served three years on a robbery conviction, before the conviction was reversed. No further info about the circumstances of the conviction.

571102 Chicago Daily Tribune- "The background and hoodlum associates of Willard O. Bates, 56, suburban tavern and restraurant operator, came under scrutiny yesterday after his assassination early in the day in a typical gang-style killing." "there is no doubt this is a professional job" "Carried out with gangland efficiency" "Bates blamed 'The Outfit' for an attempt on his life June 29. Ross and Rini are being sought for questioning. (their appear in the article)

571102 Trib- Rini, 39, 1456 N Orleans, is arrested at the subway station @ State &Monroe, and questioned over the Bates murder. The article says he was killed "apparently by three men". Rini said "I don't think it was murder, I think it was suicide." He also said he knew Bates. Rini alo claimed to now be legit, a used car salesman at a company that he couln't remember the address of. It is believed the assassination was carried out by Rini, Ross, and a third man replacing Mustari, killed in the last attempt.

571105 This photo of Rini, on the left, is taken:

571201 Ross returns to Smerch tavern, left an RIAA card, and repeated they would have to remove the non-RIAA bowling game.

571207 Ross and Rini pour acid on bowling machine at Edward Zarembas tavern, 1056 N Damen Av. Ross stood by the door, Rini ordered a drink, then tossed a ball down the alley of the bowling machine, then hurled a bottle of accid down the alley with it. Zaremba attempted to wipe up the acid with bar towels, which shredded. Rini, back at the bar, said, "that must be acid," wiping his hads with a handkerchief eaten by acid. "You know that's acid, you threw it on the machine!" Ross and Rini fled as Zaremba went to retrieve his pistol behind the bar. Ross had been at the tavern on three prior occasions, once prior with Rini.

5712?? Rini goes to Smerch tavern and pours acid on the pool table, which bears an RIAA label, instead of the bowling game, which does not. Bruce Smerch, 11, is burned by the acid.

5712?? Rini and unidentified 2nd man return to Smerch tavern and pour acid on the bowling machine.

580115 Ross and Rini return to Holups' tavern, 9801 Ewing Av., asking why a pool table had been removed. As Ross was talking to Mrs Holup, Rini was over by the bowling machine. When they left, she discovered a bottle of acid spilled on the machine.

580118 Chicago Tribune - Based on an investigation by two Trib reporters, Rini is arrested and convicted as a mafia enforcer terrorist. At his sentencing, he cancels his subscription to the Tribune:
Image

580213 Trib- Ross, 46, is arrested at his apartment, 742 (??) Bittersweet Pl., by State's Attorney's Police, based on articles by the Trib identifying he and Rini as slot terrorists. Charded with Malicious Mischief. Rini and Ross portrayed themselves to victims as representatives of "a union" and of the Chicago Independant Amusement Association. At the time of his arrest, Ross is carrying a business card of the CIAA, bearing Thomas Waterfall's name. The CIAA is also under investigation by city, county, & state officials. Tavern operators named Ross and Rini as the men terrorizing them for the past 2 years when Tribune reporters showed them a photo lineup of several men. They had never been contacted by police before, although Capt William Balswick, aid to CPD Commissioner Timothy J O'Connor, claimed his "thoro' investigation" of the mob racket was stypied when "nobody could identify anyone". Particularly if they were never asked, huh?! Ross was positively ID'd and charges signed by Vilius Maimantas (56), tavern operator at 3337 Lituanica; Edward Zaremba (32), owner at 1056 N Damen Av; & John & Mary Holup, 9801 Ewing Av. The complaint was signed by Herman Klebba, 1115 W 31st St, whose $1000 bowling machine at Meimantas' was wrecked by Ross and Rini. Also signing was Leo Romaskiewicz, 1524 N Ashland, for damage to the machines at Holups' and Zaremba's taverns. Ed Power, asst chief investigator for State Atty Benjamin A. Adamowski, insists the terrorism was done by younger members of the syndicate, trying to spread their domination of the racked to 5 northern IL counties. The Senate Labor Rackets Committee is searching for Thomas "Red" Waterfall. Det. John Daly & Leonard Peterson said Ross and Rini were involved in the mob's (successful) attempt to flood the country with bootleg phono records.

580214 (Trib) Alex Ross is subpenaed while appearing at Felony Court to appear before the US Senate Rackets Committee. He posted $4000 bond for malicious mischief charges & operating a confidence scheme. Sen. John McClellan's rackets committee has not been able to look at the books of CIAA's (165 E Ontario), run by Thomas 'Red' Waterfall. Rini is still being sought for the same attack at the Holups' tavern. Dets. Peterson & Daly are informed by Maywood police of the arrest last April, and the connection with "Red" Waterfall. The Grand Larceny complaint stemming from that arrest is still pending. Mayor Daley, asked about clear corruption in the police department concerning the non-investigation of Rini and Ross, said "This is a police matter. I have every confidence in Commissioner O'Connor and the police department". The Senate Rackets Committee has been investigating the CIAA for six months, and CIAA president Sam Greenberg (2911 Jarlath Av) said he'd been questioned several times, and investigators were seeking Waterfall, but Waterfall had disappeared, along with all the records and financial books of the RIAA. Greenburg says the RIAA has 100 members who pay a monthly fee of $1 per amusement coin machine they operate, resulting in about $3000 per month. Members claim twice that.

When Waterfall entered, Ross jumped up, shook Waterfall's hand and took his hat and coat, hung them up, and then went into his office for a private conference. Robert F Kennedy, chief counsel for the Senate Rackets Committee, says they are investigating the RIAA for trying to monopolize trade through strong-arm tactics.

And we walked right in and announced 'This is a stickup.' And I went to the president--she was an old lady, sitting at a table--and she had a button. I said to her, 'Mama, if you touch that button we're all gonna die here.' So she took her chair and moved away. And we got the money, we walked right out, jumped in the car.

"I had the back seat fixed so we could raise it up and get in the trunk. So they were looking for two guys(Jim Rini and Alvin Boubede) and a woman(Doloris Boubede-Canibano), and they never seen the two guys. They seen only the woman, and she had a baby, little Johnny(John S. Canibano age 2 in 1958), her baby son. And he was sitting in the front seat, and nobody paid attention to her. They had roadblocks, but we didn't go on the road. We went to another guy's(James V. Anthony) house, went in the garage, closed the door, went down into the basement, split the money. Then one guy took the South Shore to Chicago. I sat in the back seat, and the girl drove right through everything back to Chicago." {Jim Rini, Chicago Reader, 1994}

Amelia "Molly" Zelko, a Joliet newspaper publisher who had gained the enmity of Illinois politicians in the 1950s, was 47 when she disappeared in 1957. In 1958 a Chicago vending machine racketeer, James Rini , who was serving a 10-to-14-year sentence at Stateville Prison, confessed Zelko's murder to Robert F. Kennedy, then chief counsel for the Senate rackets committee. Rini , a committee informant, told Kennedy he had buried Zelko's body in a quicklime pit outside Joliet. But the only thing the ensuing excavation turned up for Kennedy was embarrassment.

Kennedy grabbed a spade and joined his staff in digging up fields near Joliet during the night and early morning. When Rini bent over and peered into the last hole the group would dig, Kennedy, covered with perspiration, reared back and struck Rini 's rear end with the spade. Kennedy reportedly also muttered something about digging one last hole, this time to bury Rini.

Rini admitted later that he confessed to the murder only in hopes of getting preferential treatment from Senate investigators. Despite the disappointments, however, authorities say they are practically bound to pursue convincing stories such as Ferguson's and Rini 's. There is always the fear of criticism for blowing an opportunity to solve years-long murder mysteries if the remains are indeed found later on."

Re: Jim Rini Timeline

Postby dmac » Sat Oct 22, 2011 4:06 pm

I've added about 30 new articles today, but I still haven't found some great articles about this slimeball I found a couple months back. So far, these articles detail several things I'd never known, such as:

He was born around 1918, middle name possibly Victor, sometimes was misrepresented as Joseph in articles.

He had a son, another criminal, Anthony Rini, b around 1939

He pulled crimes with Tony Savaiano, the same guy Bo pulled the Candy Bandits crimes with

He was involved in a huge conspiracy YES I SAID CONSPIRACY with Chicago pigs who would request he pull crimes to acquire things they wanted; in return, if other cops pulled him in, he would get charged with minor crimes.

He successfully overturned his sentence for the Gary robbery he, Alvin, and Delores pulled. As he was pulling a concurrent shorter sentence in IL (a plea deal for 9 robberies, basically a buck each), he never served a day for the Gary job.

He consistently managed to mock the courts and cops, was given light sentences, and was never charged with murders he was involved in.

Just added a photo of Rini in hospital recovering from the stabbing he took a couple days after being busted for the Gary robbery. And exactly why was he out of jail to be stabbed in the first place? Too bad they missed his heart. More to follow.

### Added links to full testimony of Rini before Select Committee, 1958, incl. RFK and JFK.

Hi,
My grandpa was James Rini. He actually lived with me for a few years before he went back to Chicago. My grandpa might of done alot of bad things but one thing I can promise you is that he never murdered anybody.

Re: Jim Rini Timeline

Postby dmac » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:12 am

There is enough old info about what Bo's "Dad" (Rini) and "Mom (Alvin)" were doing to explain why Rini was a weenie and Bo should have been strangled. Instead they get piggy protection for multiple murders, all connected to the mafia. I will introduce files that show Rini was the muscle in Chicago, yet obviously the dumbest assmunch on the planet. He singlehandedly brought down his Chicago tuff-bitch mob-yobbos, but also the entire fake bootleg jukebox monopoly that even Dick Clark fed off of way back in Philly. What a complete stack of WHACKS, yet Rini was attacked by a carfull of stalking knifers? And survived?

Alvin was attacked by a brain full of repressed fear over jail? right

Bo died in a lie about his health, after seeing a psych eval? sure

Bo disappeared multiple times before his 88 heart attack. Anyone that believes the VA version should consider being potentially a true twat.

When new 'old' stuff is added, you'll see Rini was a top dog that brought down the House of Ass in Chicago, and he was brought down by a newspaper. Right when Bo went AWOL, that's when Rini and Alvin killed Zelko and Bates and others. Welcome to the Riniboubede family of messed up allegiance.

Rini and Alvin were scum-buggers who learned from Bo's dad and mom. They, in turn, taught Bo. They were the dumbest nut-munchers in Chicago, yet they all survived dumb crime and fake deaths. And Washington DC grillings by Robert F Kennedy.

Keddie and Robert F Kennedy? Yep, you missed the facts if you think it's a damned joke.

Read the above where Rini is busted with Dolores and Alvin and a couple fake names. Two days later, four guys pull up next to Rini and the cow he's "dating", on a side-street, and they hack Rini into pleas of "stop!"?
It was definitely planned and it was really lame, because a real killing would have been a pop to the head with a gun. If Rini was supposed to die, he would have died, folks.

This is the key to Bo: Bo, Alvin,Dolores, and their accomplices roll on Rini. They in turn admit to crimes in Indiana and elsewhere. Dolores gets a boot in the pussy and no jail time, whereas Rini does 30 on a bullshit abbreviation of the charge, Bo does nil, Alvin "dies" in the courtroom.

Anybody see a pattern here, and why Keddie is all about lying LE pigs?

Dmac, wasn't Rini's case overturned for the Indiana jobs. The reason why I am asking is because couldn't that of had something to do with the agreement between Bo, Alvin, Delores and Rini. Because they all stayed very close friends, hell Rini stayed very close friends with my family until the day he died. If Rini knew that he could get the charge overturned then maybe that is why he agreed with them to nark him out. Just a thought.

No, Rini got sent back to jail because he was out from a prior prison term. When all those idiots got caught in Indiana and Kentucky pulling strongarm robberies, Rini went back to jail because pulling guns in Indiana was a breach of his parole.

Look at the losers that did the Indiana and Kentucky and Illinois jobs. Same bitches, all tied to Bo, Alvin, Deloris, Rini.

Rini got out of jail early because his lawyer proved Illinois had no right to put him in jail in Illinois for a crime he committed in Indiana, outside of Illinois' jurisdiction, and a crime he was never tried for.

In other words, he was NEVER put in jail for the crimes Bo and Dolores and Alvin ratted on him for. Nobody was prosecuted for those crimes. Everyone got a deal and a break. Rini walked because Illinois had no cause to claim his armed robbery in Indiana was an infraction of his Illinois parole, because it was never tried and it was outside of the jurisdiction of his parole.

Next time you see Rini, just shoot him in the head for me. And his lawyer. And co-defendants. And the DA. And the cops who arrested them but couldn't recall all the free christmases Rini made happen in their homes.

Re: James V 'Jimmy' Rini Timeline

Postby dmac » Thu Sep 11, 2014 10:03 am

Updates to the OP. Major ones in RED, including:

full text from the shoddy 1988 Chicago Sun-Times article about Rini's murder of Molly Zelko.

great update about the highlights of Robert F Kennedy railing on Rini and Ross in front of the McClellan Committee

quoted McClellan Committee testimony from Paul Moloney to RFK about another series of attacks and murder threats by Rini, similar to (and just between) the Bates/Zelko murders.

I'm finding tons of details about Rini/Ross and Dutch Vogel, Hy Larner, etc. It's deeper than I thought. Hy Larner info is coming together that knocks me down. Dutch Vogel never quit, it's claimed by RFK that Dutch first hired Rini and Ross.

Anyone who thinks the recent Boubede-Canibano claims of 'dinners at Sam Giancana's house' are BS (I had major doubts) will soon see more incredibly credible stuff. Ignored only by the willfully ignorant, as usual.

Revisit the ASSOCIATES OF BOUBEDE thread, as I also updated it with a bunch of new details, including Dutch Vogel and Hyman Larner were proved to be paying weekly cash to Rini and Ross ($150/wk each, plus bonuses, which converts to a base pay of $5,000 per month by today's money). PROVED.

Deborah wrote:Dmac, wasn't Rini's case overturned for the Indiana jobs.

ABSOULTELY! The Illinois court eventually lost when Rini sued. Illinois initially said Rini'd violated probation in Illinois by holding up a bank in Indiana. Jimmy's lawyer won, based on the idea Illinois has no right to repeal probation on an unproved crime from another state. Rini admiitted to robbing the Indiana bank, but that robbery was never tried nor proved in Indiana.

That's also one of the robberies Bo did with Rini.

Re: James V 'Jimmy' Rini Timeline

Postby dmac » Sat Jan 24, 2015 1:01 am

In looking for more articles on Rini tonight, I had to post this new nugget immediately. I'd long known he wrote the judge cockily begging for time off but, for the first time, here's the full text of his letter- along with the full article linked in the timeline:

"590220 As Rini is being mentioned loudly in the McClellan Hearings, he's written Illinois judge Joseph A Pope, who sentenced him to nine years for robberies, from his Stateville cell: "Thank you for the vacation- but this resort is no good for my health. Would you consider giving me a shorter vacation, like chopping off a five-spot? I could do the rest easy. I just have a minor record which I've paid for. Thanks for any consideration you can give me."

The fact this story was being run nationwide as a 'lighthearted human interest' piece the very same days he was all over many of the same papers' front pages as a ruthless hit-man, doesn't speak well for American newspapers or their editorial staffs.
