DNA???

Postby Zenobia » Mon Feb 15, 2010 4:24 am

I remember reading the DNA from the scene was sent to the State Crime lab. Is this true? If so, what did the Crime Lab find any matches?

And what about the fingerprint? Wasn't there a finger print on a glass somewhere?

Sorry Zenobia.....not trying to change the subject matter but this seemed like a good spot to ask both questions.

D.,

I think the fingerprint on a glass was shown to be Marty's. Not sure about the other fingerprints.

That submission was supposedly done about April, 2001, nothing was ever reported about a hit.

Sadly, there could be a matching sample sitting around somewhere in an evidence locker that has never been tested.

Cops retire, no one left around who remembers the case, more current pressing cases, lack of funds for new submissions. It all adds up.

Back in 2004 a new evidence tech was looking at a murder of a young girl in SF, in Jan. 1972. They did a submission, bingo, an old retired painter in Stockton, that is kinda sad,

Then there is Roger A Melanson, just named in a murder in Napa back in November. The murder occured in June, 1974. This slime has been sitting around in various joints in three different states since about that time. Only he knows how many women he has killed, everyone else is only guessing.

I spoke to someone at the DOJ in Sacramento in 2007; she told me that no DNA matches had turned up in the Keddie case, but that she could reveal little else. This, of course, after weeks of trying to get someone on the line, and about ten or fifteen calls.

Thanks, I knew I read about the print somewhere but wasn't sure if a positive match was made. I'm still trying to play catch up in here.

I guess nothing came of it then? I'm assuming the print was in blood or something? How can the cops just let that one go??

Wow, just noticed theres a a section called "whats the status of the physical evidence." Guess I need to go catch up in there. I've kinda been all over the place and I think I'm just confusing myself.

Yes, it was a bloody print, I believe.

It was a print in blood, and it was matched to Marty, according to the PCSO. In my opinion, because they had botched so many other aspects of the case, they chose not to pursue and opted for what seemed easier in their mind: get him out of town.

I don't know if M did the murders; nobody knows. But the running out of town really sticks with me, especially in light of what we have learned in the filming of part 2.

Was he forced out of town? Exactly how long after the murders did he leave? The timeline just says "shortly after the murders."
